Even though the Pakistan Super League isn’t as well-known as some of the other major cricket leagues, the level of play here is on par with the best. Even though the 2022 tournament has only just begun, we’ve already seen some thrilling matches. The tournament is still wide open at this point in time, and the points table is tensely poised.
As the tournament continues, Peshawar Zalmi and their next opponent are set to square off in a crucial mid-table matchup. The two teams have played only a few games so far, but they’ve done well in the ones they’ve taken part in. The National Stadium in Karachi will host this game on February 2, 2022.
PZ vs LQ Team Previews
Last year, Peshawar Zalmis had an impressive season, reaching the championship game before falling to Multan Sultans. They have been one of the most consistent teams in the tournament’s history, and their fourth final appearance in the last tournament proves it.
A high-scoring match between the Zalmis and the Quetta Gladiators set the tone for the rest of the season. After that, they suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Islamabad United and fell to fifth place on the ladder. A net run rate of -1.052 and two points in two games currently ranks them as the worst team in the league.
Regardless of the pitching conditions, the Peshawar Zalmi bats are excellent. In both of their matches, despite the fact that their top-order was underperforming, they were still able to score a respectable total. As a result, they lost their match against Islamabad United because they struggled to control the ball.
Peshawar Zalmi’s middle-order batsmen, Shoaib Malik and Shrefane Rutherford, bring a wealth of experience to the team. As long as Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers are able to keep things under control, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

After a terrible season last year, Lahore Qalandars want to make a strong start this year. Even more surprising was the fact that the Qalandars finished fifth last year despite winning five of their first six games. Qalandars are the only team in the last six years that hasn’t won the championship.
Once again, the Qalandars have placed their faith in their core group of players, elevating Shaheen Shah Afridi to the position of team captain. On top of that, the return of Rashid Khan as an overseas player has given the bowling department a much-needed boost.
Lahore Qalandars are currently fourth in the points standings after one win and one loss. They lost to Multan Sultans by a whisker in their first game of the tournament, but they bounced back spectacularly to defeat Karachi Kings in their second match. A total of 171 was set for Lahore Qalandars to chase, and they pulled it off with ease, taking six wickets in hand and four balls remaining.
Even though they only have one win to show for it, the Qalandars have played well in both of their games so far. They have an excellent bowling attack that includes Shaheen Shah Afridi and Rashid Khan, both of whom are capable of taking wickets. It was Haris Rauf’s best performance yet and he is eager to repeat it.
They do seem to be overly reliant on Fakhar Zaman in the top order, though. However, the middle order of Mohammad Hafeez, Samit Patel, David Wiese, and Ben Dunk provides a good level of protection for them.. Getting past the Qalandars will be extremely difficult if they are able to play at their full potential in this upcoming match.

In order to break out of the mid-table slush, this is a critical match for both teams, and a win here could be crucial. Neither side is expected to hold its nerves better than the other and the one that does will likely win. Based on the current standings of the two teams, betting on Lahore Qalandars to win is the best bet.
