Even though the Indian Premier League appeared to be heading in the right direction, things started to get a little confusing in its middle. Now, five teams have 12 points, while the remaining ten have 10 points, but none of them have mathematically qualified yet. This season, the battle for third and fourth place is heating up as Gujarat Titans aim to finish as high as possible in the table.
The Rajasthan Royals will take on the Punjab Kings in the tournament’s next match, which is a must-win for both teams. The Royals have a foothold in the playoffs, but they will need to win at least two of their remaining games to do so. With a win in this game for Punjab Kings, they’ll leapfrog the rest of the pack and get back into contention. We expect both teams to go all out in this match, which will be a deciding one for both of them.
The Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, will host Punjab Kings vs. Rajasthan Royals on May 7th, 2022, in the Indian Premier League.
PBKS vs RR Team Previews
It’s hard to tell how different this year’s campaign has been for Punjab Kings, who had nearly their entire lineup flipped before the competition began. In light of their current predicament, it is clear that they have struggled to maintain a consistent level of performance. They can only afford to lose one more game, and given their upcoming schedule, that may not be an easy task.
Right now, the Kings hold a seventh-place standing on the ladder after accumulating 10 points from their first four games. In order to succeed in the future, they will need to improve their net run rate, which currently stands at -0.229, which could prove useful as the competition heats up. They’d be in a tough spot if they lost this game, and they’ll do anything to avoid that.
As Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow opened the previous match, we saw the Kings make a few alterations to their batting order. Even though Bairstow was promoted to the Punjab Kings’ squad, it didn’t really provide the answer they were looking for. In light of the fact that Mayank Agarwal is an excellent spinner, we believe that they will continue with the switch.
All of Punjab Kings’ strengths can be seen on paper. Shikhar Dhawan, Bhanuka Rajapaksha, and Liam Livingstone have all excelled as anchors recently, while the middle-over enforcers have been particularly impressive. With the lack of depth in the Kings’ batting order, a lot depends on how the middle-order performs for them.
Aside from Arshdeep Singh and Kagiso Rabada’s bowling, the Kings are relying too heavily on them. Even though Arshdeep has been extremely efficient, he has not taken any wickets in the batting department. In contrast, Rabada has taken wickets but has been a little too costly. Arshdeep Singh and Kagiso Rabada will be expected to lead the Kings’ bowling attack against one of the most potent batting units in the competition due to Rahul Chahar’s waning form.
The results of Punjab Kings’ games have shown that they are heavily reliant on the individual efforts of their players. The Royals will have their work cut out for them if their match-winners fail to deliver.
Punjab Kings Playing 11
Mayank Agarwal (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Rishi Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Sandeep Sharma, Arshdeep Singh.
The Rajasthan Royals got their season off to a flying start, and they’ve remained in the top two for the majority of the season. However, as the tournament progresses and their limitations become more apparent, they are losing some of their momentum. Although their luck has run out in the past few games, they will be hoping for better fortune in the future.
Rajasthan Royals are currently in third place in the points table, but a win here could move them up to second if their net run rate of 0.340 continues to improve. A loss here would mean that they would fall into the mid-table muddle, which they would be desperate to avoid, especially after the terrible start they have had.
According to the numbers, the Rajasthan Royals are a solid team, with an impressive batting line-up and a well-equipped bowling unit. There are some capable batsmen in the middle order to support Jos Buttler, even if he has so far carried them to a respectable total. There is no doubt about it that the team’s batting depth is a problem. Shimron Hetmyer has also been brought in a little late in the last few matches.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin are the Royals’ middle-overs stalwarts, and they’ve done an excellent job thus far. This team’s effort was commendable, even if they were unable to hold on to the total.
The Royals haven’t done much wrong so far, and their standing in the standings reflects that. If they win here, their chances of qualifying for the next round will be greatly improved, and that is what they will be aiming for. The Kings will have to work hard to defeat players like Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Sanju Samson, and Yuzvendra Chahal, who are in excellent form.
Rajasthan Royals Playing 11
Sanju Samson (c & wk), Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Darryl Mitchell, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Riyan Parag, Trent Boult, Kuldeep Sen, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal.
PBKS VS RR BETTING TIPS
The Punjab Kings will be looking to build some momentum in the latter stages of the tournament, and they can’t afford to take anything for granted given their current position. The Royals, too, will be eager to get back to winning ways and erase any minor blemishes that have appeared recently.. Punjab’s middle-order and Rajasthan’s spinners are likely to go head-to-head in this match, and the team that can keep its cool will likely win. With the way both teams have performed in the tournament thus far and their respective on-paper combinations, a wager on Rajasthan Royals to win the tournament should be the way to go.
